Hello from “Environmental Protection in the Interest of Caldwell County”!

EPICC has been working tirelessly for the past two years to keep Caldwell County growing in beneficial ways and the biggest part of our work has been to have the proposed 130 mega-landfill site independently examined. So to keep you up-to-date on our progress, we have decided to publish a monthly e-newsletter.

SOAH Hearing. EPICC, along with Caldwell County and our water district, Plum Creek Conservation District, has a court hearing scheduled with the landfill company, Green Group Holdings, in April, 2016. It will be heard by judges from the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH). This is good news! Only 1% of groups who request a hearing concerning a permit in Texas are granted one. And we are one!

Banquet/Auction. EPICC has hired a premiere environmental law attorney, Marisa Perales, with the Austin law firm of Frederick, Perales, Allmon and Rockwell. To assist with the legal costs, we are having a fundraising banquet/auction on November 14 and everyone is invited! We are planning a fun evening with dinner and dessert, and both a silent and live auction! We are limited on our seating so be sure to purchase your tickets soon! Come help EPICC defeat the mega-landfill! Your banquet invitation is attached.

Also, if you have an item that you would like to donate to our auction, please email us at one of the addresses below and we will arrange to pick it up. It will help a very worthy cause!

Waller County Victory! On the landfill front, there is great news from our neighbors to the south in Waller County, Texas. Green Group had been trying to permit a landfill there as well. After Green Group’s engineers threw away soil samples (evidence that Green Group was supposed to keep for their SOAH hearing) and misled the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) about where the aquifer was located, their PERMIT WAS DENIED!!! This is proof positive that – regardless of what you may have heard – the 130 Environmental Park landfill is NOT a done deal! (The TCEQ’s rejection letter to Green Group is attached.)

Join EPICC! Membership to EPICC is free for non-voting status and $10 for voting status, so please go to our website and become an EPICC member today!

Also, if you have signed our petition but have never received an email or phone call from us, it is because we do not have your correct contact information. We rarely send emails or make calls, but when we do… it’s important, so please contact us to update your records and receive updates about our efforts to defeat the 130 mega-landfill. Thank you!
